The Lee Aaron Band - Mr Bumbles

Saturday nights gig was with teenage drumming sensation Lee Aaron at Mr Bumbles public house in Blackwater. This was THE big Christmas gig of the season, so everyone wanted it to go well! In fact Lee himself told me that he wanted the gig to go well!!!

As ever, I started my evening by packing Weavel, and heading down a combination of small roads, big roads and even bigger roads! Luckily, using a combination of these multi-sized roads, I was able to circumnavigate to Blackwaters finest public house and live music venue in plenty of time. I am also pleased to announce that I almost finished my Barack Obama audio book during the 'course' of this trip.

As I arrived, I was greeted with some kind of 'sport' on a screen, though luckily this 'dross' did not last long and we were soon setting about setting up for the evening ahead.

Not only was tonight the official Lee Aaron Band Christmas spectac-ular, it was 'Double Header' affair, with Fuze supporting us and literally blinding us with their sheer fountain of youth!

But before the rock could begin, the local Vicar paid us a visit complete with a complete church choir! Bashing (and banging) through a grand selection of 'choonz' our Vicar accompanied the harmonious renderings of the ensemble with his accordion! As their 25 song was completed, the 'cup' was handed round for donations for the church roof, and it was time for festive rocking!

Fuze opened the night of Christmas rock, and really did an excellent set. George and the lady and Gentlemen of the band really showed off their respective 'chops'! Highlight was the freshly prepared Christmas medley which I enjoyed very much indeed.

With this hard act to follow, and Lee still concerned it would not go well, we hit the stage with our special blend of rock, Guilty Party and 'Fast ones and slow ones'. It was a literal festive rock triumph!

I elected to wear the long sleeve 'Dickies' shirt, which I understand is PAPOS compliant.

As the evening came to a big brassy tart of an ending, we said our farewells as we packed up our extensive equipment. As as a Christmas bookend to the night of figgy pudding and oranges in old tights, a dusting of snow accompanied my drive home creating a special Yuletide atmosphere whilst driving at 20MPH on the M3.

Henry Rollins!
