Thursday nights gig was, you guessed it, at the fREAKYJAMMER session in Slough, with yourfavourite jam night hosts and jockeys, the fREAKJAM.
I am pleased to say that I travelled the highways of London, joined the M4 Motorway and quicker than you could say 'Spartacus' I was waiting in the FTA approved parking 'zone' for 8pm when I could make my way to our jamming spiritual home.
Tonight Dangerous 'Dave' Evans was busy with his charity work (which he does not like to talk about) so we were aided in our jamming quest by Gibson Brother Steve on the fancy 5 string bass. It must be Steve plays a mean bass, and even has a blue one for playing the blues!
There was a format change this evening that Sir Ian Jam had worked his arse off to organise and 'sort out'. Rather than the traditional 3 songs (which can lead all manner of timing dilema's) people were allocated 2 songs, and a last hour free for all was created in order to 'mop up'. A jam night first!
I must publically applaud the commitment of Sir PAPOS this evening. Despite vehic-ular troubles the jam started on time.
This weeks sandwiches were ham salad and cheese.
Sets from our friend with the red hair, Ed, 15 year old drumming sensation Lee Aaron, 'Gaffa Tape' Chris, Lefty John (headless), Graeme from Lemonrock to name a few. Dave and Dale Byrce from Spider fame were in the house, and treated us to a fantastic set.
As ever there was much arsing about.
I elected to play the Brian May guitar & Pretend Pop Star Mark Chudley was in attendance.
As the evening came near the end, just into the traditional Adrian finale the tragic news of the death of Michael Jackson emerged. I was talking to the Big Man outside, and he received a call from Ant to tell us. Very sad indeed.
With my tires deflated to half mast, I made my way home. Straight to bed.
Pesky blown Power Supply! WOPR will shine once again!
