The Lee Aaron Band - The Flowerpot

Friday nights gig was with the 6 year old drumming sensation Lee Aaron and his band, in the leafy town of Walthomstow on Sea, in the fakkin' East.

Tonight I was very lucky to have one of the Big Man's fleet of vehicles come to collect me on my journey, rather than going 'solus' in my Spritzer. I collected all my belongings, and awaiting with baited breath for the vehicle to arrive. Was it to be the Hummer? Was it to be the gold plated Mercedes Sprinter complete with paddling pool? None of the above! Browning industries despatched the finest red Citroen van money can buy, and we were soon on our way to all things past junction 28 of the M25.

It had been a long time since I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with Lee in a van, and I pleased to say that the journey did not disappoint! A multitude of topics were covered, from reproduction to torture - they were all in there! The 2 plus hours round the North Circ-ular literally vanished into minutes and after a quick French Marc style coffee and cheeseburger 'pit stop' we were arriving at East London's premier venue named after a pot of flowers.

Joining us on the Eastern stage tonight was the excellent George Kirchner, complete with Caesar spec PRS SE Custom 22.

It's fair to say that it was pretty quiet in the Flowerpot, though it did serve in some respects as an 'educational' for the future. On the plus side, this gig marked a return for our manager Luke. It actually turns out that he had been spending most of his time in Dubai, negotiating with the major hotels for corporate work. Sadly, he still feels that we are not quite ready despite our pleas. He even tried to get us some work on an Airbus A380, but once again he placed one of his other acts, Christy Moore rather than us. All I would say, buddy boy, you better realise what side your bread is buttered! Or something!

The evening ended in spectac-ular style with our 'Who' finale incorporating drum solo. I elected to hand the Sparkle Music Man guitar to George to finish the set, and his did so if fantastic fashion! The 6 people in the pub loved it, at least the ones who were not asleep.

After a swift packup, the 'boys' ate their 'super food' nutritious salads and green drinks and we were soon on our way. The journey home was almost as much fun as going, with about 2 topics discussed this time, with smiles and laughter in equal abound!

2.45am.

True Blood Season 2 is awesome!
