Thursday nights gig was with the champions of all things jam related, the fREAKY-jAM in Slough at West London's finest public house cum music venue The Rising Sun, which will be know for at least the rest of this paragraph as TRS.
I am pleased to say that I enjoyed a trouble free trip to TRS, and I observed many things on my way. I observed traffic lights, the famous Gary Reece Coffee Key-Babb house and the FTA parking space, where I had a moment to reflect before the busy evening ahead.
Quite simply, this was probably the best jam night since we made the move LA! As the evening went on, it was like a who's who of the jamming community 'entering' the pub one after another! It was also the Birthday of Sir Ian Jam, who decided to work his arse off on this special day, and was accompanied by his young lady TTTTTToni.
Now, dear readers, please excuse me if I have forgotten anyone as I try to list and actually catalogue the attendees of the evening....
First off, we were joined by the fountain of youth with sets from the excellent George Kirchner and Lee Aaron on the drums. The Cook family were also in attendance, complete with the guitar skills and talents of Steve on the striking white Aria Pro II. 'Full body but headless' John was in attendance, and so were Adam and the Black Shot Rose Boys. I am pleased to announce that Adam has fully converted to Line 6 with his splendid HD147! Sarah 'Saz' Harper was in 'the house', and so was Steven on guitar. We were joined also joined by a number of new jam night friends who's names escape me, but I am pleased to display the pictures in Technicolor.
This weeks sandwiches were ham and mustard, tuna & sweetcorn. And as a special Brucie Bonus, they were joined by cake!
I elected to play my Brian May guitar, and am pleased to say that plastic pics are the way to do it, even after much experimentation with various coinage.
Dave Bryce, from Spider was in attendance and joined by his son Dale for a rock-tabulous set! Cindi from Red Rocket fame was in the house, and Pretend Pop Star Mark Chudley was in attendance. THWMIR and TNWMIR Gary Reece was undertaking a dozen or so gigs elsewhere. Shroomy Sue was in the house in full picture snapping form. I was delighted to see Laura Madeley from The Metro Gnomes fame, and I formally welcomed her back to Europes #1 jam night. A rather intoxicated 'Frontman' was in the house too!
As you would expect, the evening ended with the tradional Adrian 'Purple Rain' ending, though I am saddened to say that I could not observe the 'Dangerous Dash'.
The jam finished at a Dangerous un-compliant time of 12.35, and I got home and yearned a nice cup of Horlicks.
Lets hope this is not the start of a cold!
