Sunday afternoon's gig was with THWMIR and TNWMIR Gary Reece and his young ward James Reece in the Blues & Tunes format, in a pub in High Wycombe.
It was a beautiful British summers day, and what a better way to spend it than sit in a queue of traffic on the M40! Thanks to the barmy British Traffic Police, and their never ending quest to generate as much traffic as possible, the 'boys in blue' had decided to turn 3 lanes into 1 for no real reason creating a huge tailback. What should have been a short jaunt to HW, turned into an almost 2 hour 'slog'! Luckily this gave Gary a chance to do 3 gigs in his Saab on the way to the pub, and thankfully we all arrived in 'the nick of time'.
Thanks to the weather arrangement, we played in the garden and it had all the makings of a very special afternoon indeed. Sadly, there was hardly anyone there to enjoy all of our Blues and associated tunes. That said, its always a pleasure to share the stage with THWMIR and TNWMIR. The small audience allowed us to stretch out a little, and play the whole of Dark Side of the Moon! James was on the cash register, and I sang the soulful part of 'Great Gig in the Sky'
With cheeseburgers & chips consumed, the 2nd set was well received by the audience that tripled in numbers!
With the last notes ringing out, we all said our goodbyes and I enjoyed a happy drive home, complete with Stern Show ringing out true and bold.
Would a Panda be big enough?
