The Lee Aaron Band - The Fox Inn

Saturday nights gig was with the masters of expressive drumming and the guitar/bass/drums/vocals format The Lee Aaron Band, at the Fox Inn in Bisley. For those of you that are not familiar with this venue, its next to a Vauxhall garage that I once went to with somebody who was once looking to to buy a Corsa, but never did.

After a pretty relaxing Sat Nav fuelled trip to this pub, I parked next to the red Maserati, and set about the various processes and procedures that are required to put your life in the hands of the Lee Aaron Band.

After spending the proceeding week working on George Kirchner's PRS SE Custom 22, I decided to try it at this gig as a 'dry run' for future purchases, and to check that it was all in good working order. With new strings and pickups all 'cocked' and loaded, we were soon ready to rock!

Playing in a small alcove, even the smallest band would be a bit on the loud side, but with the 'over the top' drumming style of young 15 year old Lee, it was soon like sticking your head in a bass bin at a Motorhead gig! Lucky for me, my ears soon came more or less completely blocked, so I did not have to worry about it.

It must be said that the management of this pub are very friendly indeed, and looked after us for the duration of our stay. The occasion was a birthday party, and I think that it was unique that despite various Birthday regalia, the birthday boy was nowhere to be found! I was ready to play a JJ compliant Happy Birthday in C, but we were quite literally stopped in our tracks!

Whilst the crowd were somewhat lukewarm to begin with, but thanks to some pop-ular classics, we were soon winning them over! They were literally dancing in the isles and the like. I was very pleased with 'The Note' in 'Walkways, and people literally clapped a bit!

LOF was a firm 8.5 and rising, with little localisation.

The packup procedure was a Lee Aaron band first! Finishing our set around 11pm, complete with encore, the boys required their traditional post gig key-babb stroke burger. But sadly the only one local closed at12pm! But! Never fear! With speed that has literally never been observed, the boys had Bal's van packed and they were on their way by 11.45pm or there abouts! Nobody's belly was empty! Well, except mine because I never eat post gig key-babbs these days due to previous fat days and budget issues.

With smiles abound, and happy with the performance of the PRS SE, I headed home to by beautiful wife and drank a delicious glass of orange juice!

Gardening sucks!
