Mo'Rockan Soul - Ashford Social Club

Friday nights gig was with the bi-annual pardy band Mo'Rockan Soul at Ashford Social Club.

Thanks to the wonder of GPS technology, complete with Google street mapping and GSM, Owl and I got completely lost trying to find this venue! Luckily after much driving about we soon found our way, and quicker than you can say 'One serious pardy' we were unpacking and the like and getting ready for the main event of the evening - having one serious pardy!

It had been over 2 years since Mo'Rockan Soul had gigged together, so after we all re-introduced ourselves to each other we strapped on out respective guitars, drumkits, PA's and the like and set them to 'pardy'. There was also a chance for a jovial chat, which I throughly enjoyed!

It must be said that the room at Ashford Social was quite large, and had the classic combination of wooden floor and oval ceiling affair. This created what is known in the trade as a 'echo chamber' effect. Luckily WW Paul was on hand, and thanks to his cunning sound engineering skills, we were able to create a professional sound, complete with blaring monitors and the correct level of bass and echo.

Sadly, apart from out loyal followers, there was hardly anyone in the house, though I must report that the management were very warm and friendly and treated us very well indeed.

Despite the 18 month lay-off, I though that the band played very well indeed! I was also very pleased to re-introduce the sparkly Music Man 'Gary' back into the stable after being in Charlie Chandler's hospital.

I need a new computer! Any Idea's?
